For three weeks now, I've been in a fierce battle against the Toronto Star. It all started when a copy of the newspaper started mysteriously showing up on my front step. I don't get any paper because they're a waste. Anything I need to know is online. Anyway, every morning for three weeks now, a paper arrives - and goes straight into the recycler. I've been trying to stop it but when they decide to give you free delivery, it takes some doing to get out of it. The first call I made assured me the papers would stop arriving in 2 days. They didn't. A week later, I called again. The papers would (for sure) stop in 2 days. They didn't. When I discovered that Friday's paper had smashed a patio light, I called and insisted on speaking with a supervisor. She pulled up my file and saw the previous calls I had made - and was shocked I was still getting the paper. "It stops today" she said and so far she's been right. (I haven't checked today though...)
